I was simply responding to a statement that I firmly believe to be inaccurate and irresponsible, not challenging his freedom to express an opinion. Besides, freedom of speech is not a one-way street.

Ive stepped in late to this argument, but I dont see how Benbenek is being "irresponsible" by expressing his opinion.
I've been following his site on the web since 1998 and his is one of the most responsible and uplifting around.

What MAY be irresponsible is the cookie-cutter dull disco that masquerades as "cutting edge Net Label music" - irresponsible Net Label owners should be held liable for reducing the IQs of young listeners throughout the world. Net Labels have set music back at least 60 or 70 years (in terms of ingenuity and emotion)

Not sure if this is what your argument is all about...but I find it funny that you would call someone (K. Benbenek) irresponsible, when he is one of the web's best advocates for personal resposibily and creativity. You obviously are talking out the backside of your elbow....or something...must go, bye

When general blanket statements are made like his and yours ["What MAY be irresponsible is the cookie-cutter dull disco that masquerades as 'cutting edge Net Label music' - irresponsible Net Label owners should be held liable for reducing the IQs of young listeners throughout the world. Net Labels have set music back at least 60 or 70 years ..."] without offering any supporting evidence that's being 'irresponsible" (or rash/careless or whatever synonym you want to use).

I think the "supporting evidence" is the fact that you refuse to admit that Net Labels (in general) are over-rated and that the music (generally) is not very good...you seem to have blinders on. Do you actually play Net Label music in your car and walkman?? If you do, then you are a masochist...plain and simple.

All the musical progress of the past 50 years has been washed away in a few years by well-intentioned (yet untalented) Net Label samplers and non-musicians...ie: DJs and mixologists. If you can't see for yourself that music today is regressing more and more into unintelligence, violence and meaningless, then...well, I don't know what. At least our friend Benbenek is saying different things and not sticking to the boring party line.
How many more Drum 'n' Bass mega-mixes do we need?...none - MARCY

This all seems quite upsetting for you - are you secure in what you do musically, or must you always look to others for direction? If you were truly responsible, you would tend to your own business and not to Chenard Walcker's - Chenard seems to be taking care of the Benbenekk business very well on his own

That's our big problem these days, so many want to insert their own opinions into everyone else's business. Chenard Walcker should not be placed into this category

I have also recently become attached to Houseplant Picture Studio and find it to be gratifying and very inspirational (especially choices of imbedded music and downloads)
- truly it is silly and futile to call someone "irresponsible" on a message board such as this. It looks like others have called Kurt a "Fascist" and other things. This is sad that you cannot see past the dirt on your own nose. I've nothing more to be said - MRS SF - (France)

from what I understand, Kurt Benbenek has started his own Net Label...and it's already a money-making venture (unlike many free sites online) - I don't see why there's so much unfair criticism of Kurt and his website, he's the last person we should be angry or upset with - from what I understand, he's attempting to push the internet beyond certain boundaries - and this is what we al need - love and peace - Marcy

I think Benbenek and the Houseplant company have done recordings, but not as a Net Label - - only terra-firma releases

No, you are wrong...freedom of speech BEGINS with the individual...in other words, it IS a one-way street...until it turns into a dialogue. How interesting.

That's my point - the freedom to respond (establish a dialogue) is an inherent part of freedom of speech.

Freedom of speech CAN be a one-way street, especially when most others don't see that the emperor (Net Labels) is wearing no clothes (are dull and pathetic overall)

Yes? This is Tony in Israel...bye bye
